Never considered a particularly strong contender, Mary Davis nevertheless was not considered last-place material until recent opinion polls thrust last place upon her. She performed rather poorly in every constituency bar her native Mayo, where she recorded her best result - a still uninspiring 9%.
Polling 0.2% behind Dana Rosemary Scallon, Ms. Davis received 2.7% of the national vote, leaving her at last place in this election.
