2016 General Election Candidates: Clare

In 1992, Clare elected the first Muslim TD, Moosajee Bhamjee of Labour in that year's "Spring Tide". Like a lot of new Labour TDs elected that year, Bhamjee lost his seat in the following election. Whether this happens to Michael McNamara, elected on the "Gilmore Gale" of 2011 remains to be seen. Fianna Fáil are hedging their bets on three candidates in Clare, while Fine Gael are running their two sitting TDs. Two independents and one Sinn Féin candidate round out the challengers.

TDs elected in 2011:
Pat Breen (FG), Michael McNamara (Lab), Joe Carey (FG), Timmy Dooley (FF)
